Ferdinand VII Silver 2 Reale. Alarmed by the outbreak of the Mexican war of independence,
local officials opened a mint in Zacatecas so that silver ore would not have to be transported over bandit
infested mountain trails. Assayers RG (1820-22) and AZ (1821-26) are both recorded for the date.
