Designed to finish your gum machine with era-correct display features. For display purposes only. Contains no product. Shipped in lots of 15 per color and size, per auction.

So. Instead of showing your machine and having to field the question "what's tab gum?" you now can show it off with its original function and appearance.

These reproduction boxes are available in two sizes; the "Chiclet" size is taller and narrower, and the "Bemans/Dentyne" size is flatter and wider. Designed to fit into the two different-size columns in your antique Mills gum vendor. These sizes were popular in the 1930's and 1940's tab gum vending machines, so they may fit other tab gum vending machines of that era. Boxes for the larger size Select-O-Vend machines also available, see image.

Boxes are precision cut and scored, and require assembly using Elmer's glue or similar clear adhesive. You simply apply glue to one side tab and top tab and hold the box squarely for about 15 seconds, leaving the other side open. Then you can insert gum of your choice, or leave them empty. Commonly available gum is made by Canel's and Trident. If you use original Dentyne gum, two pieces will fit into those boxes. One Trident gum strip cut in half will fill the wide boxes. Chiclets boxes will accommodate two Canel gum pieces. Once the gum is inserted, you then glue the final side flap. Time needed to glue each box is about 1.5 minutes total. The end result is the final detail for displaying your antique machine. You will likely need to slightly modify the six springs found inside at the product exit of the Mills machine, to enable smooth vending of the small boxes. This involves simple "tweaking" of the curve of those springs as shown in the image.

These small boxes solve the dilemma of filling your vintage machine to provide period-correct presentation. By using this product, your machine will appear complete and finished.

Each lot contains 15 boxes. Standard MILLS columns each use 45 chiclet-size boxes and 50 beemans/dentyne-size boxes to fill to the top. Since they are shipped in multiples of 15 boxes, the beemans/dentyne columns will come up a bit short because the boxes are shallower than the others.

NOTE: If you prefer to fill your MILLS columns up to the original decal (about 1/3 of the way up), you will need one each of No. 1 thru 4, and two of No. 5 (since you have two columns of "Dentyne"). So, if you place an order of 6 on this auction, I will assume you want enough of the boxes to fill your machine up to the 1/3 level. An order of 19 will fill your machine entirely to the top, and I will credit you a 20% discount via Paypal if you order this quantity. With that order, you will receive the additional ten Dentyne and five Beemans boxes to top off the columns completely.

MILLS: The tall boxes fit in the middle columns, wide boxes on the ends (two right side and one left side columns are WIDE). Please note that your machine may require feed spring tension adjustment to eject the box properly, should you choose to demonstrate the vend of the product.

Select-O-Vend: Use two batches of each box size; five large size, one small (California Fruit) size, numbers 7 thru 15. Dentyne GREEN, No. 8, is optional, and only used on some machines.
