The CT-MADI signal generator makes it possible for one person to setup or verify a MADI communication link easily, quickly, and accurately. The unit produces a hands-free audible sequential voice ID for each channel, eliminating the need for external generators or extra personnel to switch between sources. In addition to the voice ID’s, the CT-MADI includes four tone sets that will verify frequency response and level accuracy. MADI outputs are available on both COAX and FIBER. The unit can be locked to a variety of external references and generates a re-clocked Word clock.

In addition to a MADI output, there is a Reference AES DAR output and AES Audio output with the same signal that is on the MADI channels.

Channel Talker Specifications:

MADI Output: 64 Channels embedded on 125Mb serial digital channel. Outputs on COAX and FIBER. Signal is locked to Word Clock. Fiber: SC connector, 1300nm wavelength. COAX: 600mv into 75 ohms.

WORD Clock Input: Word clock input will lock to input greater than 200mVP-P. Clock input 48KHz +/- 200ppm.

WORD Clock Output: Word clock output 48KHz will drive 2.5VP-P into 75 ohms. Internal jumper to select 4.5VP-P output.

Tones: 4 tones selectable:

1) 1KHz @-20dBFS, Level can be set to -18dBFS with internal jumper.

2) 400Hz @-20dBFS, Level can be set to -18dBFS with internal jumper.

3) Frequency SWEEP: Eight stepped tones: 75, 125, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 4000, and 8000Hz. Duration 1-sec (or 0.5-sec with internal jumper) each continuously repeating. Output level is exactly -20/-18 dBFS with 19-bit resolution and 20-bit compatible. 

4) LEVELS: 10KHz @ -20 dBFS, -17 dBFS, -14 dBFS, -11 dBFS, -8 dBFS, -5 dBFS, -2 dBFS, & Silence. Each level held for 2.5 seconds. Frequency can be set to 1KHz with internal jumper.

ID Mode: Select voicing and Tone combinations 1) Both ON, 2) Voicing Only, 3) Tones Only, 4) MUTE

AUX Channel Output: Digital stream output with 4 selectable tones. Identical information is on both channels. Output is AES/EBU compatible 1.0VP-P into 75 Ohm BNC).

DAR Output: One Digital Audio Reference output (DAR). Audio output Left and Right = 0.00 volts (minus infinity db – dead silence). Class 1 reference signal.  Output is AES/EBU compatible (1.0VP-P into 75 Ohm BNC).

DAR/Color Black Input: Locks to external reference 48Khz data stream, or standard house reference Color Black analog video.

Channel ID: Sequential voice channel ID overlay on all 64 channels for ease of identification. Natural voice wav file. Unit is pre-programmed with generic sequencing 2/3 sec phrases (“One”, “Two”, "Three", etc.).
