Pomegranates are adaptable to many soil types, though they grow best in loamy soil with good drainage. The ideal climate is mild too hot, with short, mild winters and low humidity. They may be grown in containers in colder places, and kept indoors or in a greenhouse over winter but can take a low temperature if planted in the ground. They can also survive drought conditions for many years, though the fruit yields will be lower.

Sowing Instructions: (we do not post instructions)
- Start pomegranate seeds indoors in mid-winter, so that they can have a couple of months to grow before spring planting season.
- Plant the seeds no more than ¼” deep in lightweight, seed-starting potting soil.
- Put the pot in a sunny, warm window, keep the soil moist as your seeds germinate and grow.
- For added humidity and warmth during winter, cover the pot loosely with a clear plastic bag
- When the weather warms in spring, you can begin gradually hardening off the plants before moving them permanently outdoors.
