1. The Minimum Benchmark for All OSC Radiators is the OE Unit!
2. Premium Quality Aluminum:
a. Virgin aluminum, not recycled (which could have impurities); same number of fins per inch; same size tubes & tube spacing as OE design, we do not reduce the amount of material we put into our radiators
3. Ribbed Headers:
a. Stronger headers, not flexing & twisting which can lead to tube/header leaks or the header wanting to pull away from the tank leading to air gaps in the tank/header seam, which lead to leaking; can be seen from the outside by the “speed-bumps” on the underneath side of the header
4. Premium Quality Gaskets:
a. Square/die cut gasket; not a half moon or o-ring design which needs to be squashed to make it seal
b. Fits exactly into the channel ensuring 100% contact all the way around; flat surfaces on the header, gasket and tank
5. OE Designed Tanks:
a. Look for the “PA66 GF30”, which equates to a 66% plastic/30% fiberglass compound (4% not in the equation is the resins & adhesives that bond the two together); the plastic gives it shape & the fiberglass gives it strength against expansion & contraction
6. Oil Coolers (TOC & EOC): - Huge Deal; Out units have “Guts!”
a. All OSC coolers are exact design (or better) replacements for the OE cooler, we do not change the metal from aluminum to copper/brass, for example
b. We always use the same number of plates in the coolers as the OE design
c. We will not substitute a barrel or concentric cooler for a plated cooler
d. We provide quick-disconnect fitting tools to expedite the technicians time, when applicable
7. White Marks on the Cooler Nuts, Drain Plugs, etc.:
a. All are radiators are tested three times prior to packaging, under both pressure & vacuum with air; if it holds air, it will hold anti-freeze
b. The core is tested after it comes out of the oven, the coolers are tested prior to installation in the tank, the complete unit it tested after the tanks are installed
c. After it passes the 3rd test; the fittings & drain plugs, etc. are marked
8. Other Misc. Attributes:
a. Units with multi-fit heater return line (HRL), such as the common #1693 - 1994-02 GM C/K /Suburban/ Tahoe/Escalade/etc. w5.7L V8, OSC does not use the industry standard of a rubber cap with a hose clamp; we have re-engineered this to a threaded plug with an o-ring seal, to ensure that it will not leak like the other aftermarket distributors
b. All filler necks have re-enforced gussets around the overflow tube to ensure that accidental damage during installation does not occur
OSC is very transparent in our approach to radiators – let’s put back into the vehicle what the OE engineer called out for in that vehicle! We may improve upon the OE design, but we will never deviate downward from the original!
