Here is an early edition of the "Vulgate" Bible published by the Catholic Church as part of the Counter-Reformation.  The Vulgate is a late-4th-century Latin translation of the Bible by St. Jerome.  At the Council of Trent (1545-1563), the leaders of the Catholic Church approved various measures to combat the Protestant Reformation, including publication of Vulgate to be the Church's first officially promulgated version of the Bible.  It was not until 1592, however, that the Vulgate was actually published under the authorization of Pope Clement VIII.

This edition was published in Lyon ("Lugduni") France in 1613.  The spine and covers are firmly attached and the book is in overall good condition with no missing pages (although a couple of the blank end pages in the front have been clipped - see scan).  There are a few very old ink annotations and some stains here and there as shown in the scans.  The book measures 6.5 x 4.5 inches.  Please e-mail me with any questions.
