Clean Ameritron AL-811 600 Watt linear amplifier for HF. Powered right up. Cooling fan working. Grid Current meter working, IP/HV meter not working properly. Repair needed there.

Tests.

Icom Transceiver. 5BTV vertical antenna. Micronta Wattmeter.

I tested the unit on 40 meters first tuning it up on CW 7.090. I adjusted the plate and load controls for max power out. My Micronta bench watt meter said about 700 Watts. The IP meter was reading incorrectly so I adjusted the plate and load to reduce the plate current just to be safe. Input from the Icom was 40 watts.

I switched to 7.192 LSB, retuned the amp slightly and held a ten minute conversation with a Ham buddy. He said the signal was clean and S9+. Amp performance was good.

No other tests.

Nice entry level or back up amp. You should plan on checking thoroughly before putting it into service.
