These kits are of high quality manufacture and the tools are made from brass and steel, no plastics are used.

The Royal Vice is one of the most popular fly tying vices being used today and is used by professional and new comers to the art of tying flies.

The kit is contained within a hardwood box that has been varnished and will give many many years of service. It can be wiped clean and will not scuff or mark very easily unlike other vice kit boxes.  

The box is lined with blue felt, with brass hinges and front clasp. 

Jaws of the vice are made from high grade steel, and is sprung loaded, and this is controlled by the upper operational lever. This enables the jaw to hold very fine hooks and can open up to a maximum of 3mm.

The head is fully rotational and the angle on the vice head can adjusted to any angle to suit. 

The bottom shaft retainer can be set to vertical (Please see attached picture).

The vice base plate is made from steel and has an anti-slip pad on the heavy duty base plate.

Some advantages of using a base plate on your vice with this kit rather than a vice table clamp supplied by other sellers.

• With using a base plate you are not compromised to where you want to do fly tying.
• The vice can be placed where you want it to be in your work area.
• No damaged edges on your table or work tops from using a clamp as used on other vices. (this will happen and can be costly in more ways than one!!!)

If you new to flytying ....One book I can recommend is the "Fly Tying Bible" by Peter Gathercole this can be usually purchased on eBay.
