*** If you are buying multiple patterns, please put them all in your basket and pay for them all together to get combined postage***

Please note: This is a quality, cleaned and restored copy of the pattern for you to knit the item/s yourself. It is Not for the original pattern or the finished article/s.

Knitting pattern/instructions to make a cute bear.  Make him in white for a polar bear or brown/black for a country bear. The pattern is from the early 1940s, when toys were expensive and not readily available as they are now, so many were hand made.

  • Sizes: 7 inches high and 9 inches long when knitted in 3ply.  You can substitute modern 4ply for 3ply of the time which is a similar weight.  Or you could make him bigger/smaller using different yarn and needle sizes.  Just knit a tensions square to ensure the finished bear is the size you want.
  • Materials required: If using 3ply or 4ply yarn: approximately -  2 ounces (approx 57 grams) yarn in colour of your choice.  Small quantity of black for his face and paws.    2 ounces each (approx 57 grams) black and white.  Pair No. 12 (2.75mm) knitting needles. child safe stuffing. 2 small boot buttons for her eyes, though if the toy is for a small child you could use toy safety eyes or embroider them.

Due to the age of the pattern, the original yarn suggested may not be available.  It is recommended to crochet/knit a tension square with your chosen yarn, before starting, to ensure the finished garment or item is the size you require.
