Knitting pattern/instructions to make Lady's 1940s classic twin set, cardigan and matching sweater. Pretty Fair Isle border.

Size: to fit 37 - 41 inch bust. 

Materials: 
3ply yarn
  • 16 - 17 ounces (approx 454 - 482 grams) in main colour ( original twin set was made in natural/beige) depending on size being made.  1 ounce each ( approx 28.3 grams) in green, rose pink and yellow 9 or colours of your choice). Modern 4ly yarn is similar in weight to 3ply of the era ad is a good substitute, but a tension square should be knitted before starting to ensure the finished garment is the size you want. 
  • Pair each straight knitting needles and set of 4 double pointed needles in sizes No. 11 (3.00mm) and No. 12 (2.75mm) knitting needles. A circular needle can be used instead of double pointed needles for the yokes.
  • 5 buttons for the cardigan.
Tension: 17 sts and 22 rows to 2 inches over stocking stitch using 2.75mm needles.

The pattern is printed in A4 format on heavy weight paper with colour photos and charts where applicable.  It will be posted in a plastic sleeve and board backed C4 envelope to protect it. 

Due to the age of the pattern, the original yarn suggested may not be available.  It is recommended to knit a tension square with your chosen yarn, before starting, to ensure the finished garment or item is the size you require.
