ANTIQUE 1900's BRASS ID PLAQUE FOR TRAVEL TRUNKS LUGGAGE RETURN FOR REWARD oblong
Solid brass oblong ID plaques / engraving blanks. Extremely rare NOS, new old stock from the early 1900's. These plaques were fastened to
travel trunks, wardrobes, lockers, suitcases, etc. and used for ID tags. Their purpose was to return lost travel trunks back to their
rightful owners by offering a reward. The plaque would have the name and address of the owner stamped on it. The plaque and engraving
service was often sold by locksmiths back in the day. The plaques read please return to owner for a reward.
Measure about 2 1/2" wide and 5/8" tall. Each oblong ID tag has 4 lines for stamping or engraving. They are over 100 years old and they
look it. One of the pictures show 2 plaques to illustrate how the plaque will appear if washed with very fine steel wool and soap.
These ID plaques were part of an enormous Dallas locksmith collection with items going back over 100 years. I will be listing many more antique
