This listing is for a Vintage 1990 Solido German Panzer Tank IV Sd. Kfz. 161-Green, Heavy Die-cast Metal, 1:50 Scale, # 237, New in Box ("NIB")-Mint Condition. Solido German Panzer Tank IV Sd. Kfz. 161 is in C-9, Factory New--Brand New: all original and unused condition. Solido German Panzer Tank IV Tank body is approximately 4 5/8” Long and with cannon barrel it is 5 1/2” Long x 2 1/4" Wide x 2 1/4" High. White paint is in excellent condition. Tank turret turns 360 degrees, cannon elevates 1 1/4", and tank trends rotate as designed. This is a heavy die-cast metal tank weighing 9 ounces. Original Solido German Panzer IV Tank was made in France and is not of current Chinese versions that have small green and yellow boxes. Photographs are part of description. Panzer IV, was a German medium tank developed in late 1930s and used extensively during Second World War. Its ordnance inventory designation was Sd. Kfz. 161. Panzer IV was most widely manufactured German Tank and second-most widely manufactured German armored fighting vehicle of Second World War, with some 8,553 built. Panzer IV main armament was a 75mm cannon and two 7.92 MG34 machine guns. Panzer IV weighted 25 tons. Panzer IV came in 10 variats. For example, Panzer IV chassis was used base for many other fighting vehicles, including Sturmgeschütz IV assault gun, Jagdpanzer IV tank destroyer, "Wirbelwind" (Whirlwind in English) was a German self-propelled, and Brummbär self-propelled gun. Panzer IV saw service in all combat theaters involving Germany and was only German tank to remain in continuous production throughout war. It received various upgrades and design modifications, intended to counter new threats, extending its service life. Generally, these involved increasing Panzer IV's armor protection or upgrading its weapons. Panzer IV had a crew of 5.
Solido tanks are aptly named, as they are truly “solid” with very heavy die-cast metal bodies. They are quite detailed and the quality is fabalous! Please note that typically, Solido tanks and armored fighting vehicles are made in a 1:50 scale while the support vehicles, which include the jeeps and staff cars, are produced in a slightly larger 1:43 scale. Also, Solido military and fire fighting models are built so well that over 55 years later they are as good as they were when they were built and first sold. Truly this is quite remarkable!
