Japanese Textile Book: Kasuri

.....................................................
Ikat Kasuri - Traditional Japanese Dying for Weavings
Kasuri, a method of resist-dyeing fibers for weaving, is thought to have originated in India and spread west to southern Europe from Persia and east to Japan from China and Southeast Asia.
The rich variety of materials and techniques used to produce Kasuri in Japan evolved their own, uniquely Japanese qualities, and came to stand in stark contrast to those produced in other parts of the world.
This book presents approximately 600 beautiful examples of exquisite Kasuri fabric remaining from as far back as the 18th century.  All the examples are printed in full color.
This would serve as a wonderful reference for anyone involved in the garment design trade, and is especially useful for exhibiting the use of color and certain motif patterns on traditional Japanese garments.
