Rembrandt van Rijn lithograph/mezzotint - A Jew Rabbi - Charles Corbutt/Richard Purcell - c1755-1765

This very rare 'after Rembrandt' mezzotint was printed for John Bowles, at the Black Horse in Cornhill, London circa 1755 - 1765. Charles Corbutt is, according to the British Museum, the fictional name associated with the printmaker and lithographer, Richard Purcell. This beautiful lithograph was purchased by my grandparents who were both artists and considered Rembrandt as one of their greatest inspirations. So much so that they named their only child (my mother) Saskia, after his wife.
