Offered is a rare antique photogravure from a copper plate by Gravure Coupil & Co of Paris. They invented the process. The title is "Moliere Breakfasting with Louis XIV at Versailles". Engravers name on left is Jean Leon Gerome. Original painting is from the collection of Mr James H Stebbins of New York. He was the foremost collector and patron of Barbizon school paintings in the mid to late 1800s. Gravure Coupil was in business from 1872 through 1879. Image is 10" by 6" on 12" by 9" art paper. It is in fair to good condition for it's age. It needs some conservation and proper matting and framing. Right side border has missing corners and creasing. Overall it needs a cleaning.
