Former model, now photographer, Marianna Rothen's Brand new, beautiful, book of her photography published by b. frank books is already turning heads and getting a lot of attention! Copies are exceedingly scarce, signed copies are rare. Up for your consideration is a copy that has only been opened to be signed and photographed. It is like new with minor shelf wear from being in a stack of these, and I notice one slight bump along the center front bottom (See Pics). 80 pages with color and black & white images. This was signed in February, 2019, shortly after its publication.

From the publisher-
"Marianna Rothen began modeling at the age of 15, working with designers such as Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent during her 17-year career in the fashion industry. As a hobby, she began to take pictures. Meanwhile she has become an internationally recognized artist.

Rothens world is a world full of imagination and phantasies with mysteries hiding a dark truth. In her earlier work  men were only present outside the pictures, at most as observers or voyeurs. In her latest work, "Mail Order," which is being shown in Zurich,  men are integrated into the pictures as dolls, a staged seemingly perfect world that is eerie and irritating. Since 2007, her work has been shown in galleries in Paris, Sydney, Istanbul, London and at Steven Kasher in New York. It was also presented at Paris Photo, and at the Harleyville Arts Center in May, 2019."'

And-

"Canadian-born photographer Marianna Rothen spent her formative years working as a model in the fashion industry, which in turn shaped her approach as a photographer. Her work reflects a strong interest in female characters, who are often portrayed in a nostalgic manner. In ‘Mail Order’, Rothen herself is the sultry, sexy subject – an archetype inspired by the silver screen. With a collection of male mannequins, she takes part in a dystopic scenography informed by real-life anxieties around gender and patriarchy, played out against a backdrop worn interiors and natural surroundings. The series has overtones of mystery and disillusion that become part of a larger narrative."
