Battle of Britain Victoria Cross No 249 Squadron cover signed by Flight Lieutenant Tommy Thompson DFC JP

JS(CC)81c RAF Battle of Britain cover, dual numbered as JS(BB)1c as part of out Battle of Britain mini-series, which depicting Nicolson VC in the action that he won the Victoria Cross August 1940. Cover also depicts Nicolson's Hurricane of 249 Squadron engaging a BF110. Cover depicts the Victoria Cross which was introduced as the premier award for gallantry available for all ranks during wartime for conspicous bravery or devotion to the country in the presence of the enemy which covered all actions since the outbreak of the Crimean War. Nicolson was the only Victoria Cross holder of Fighter Command

Cover bears 1st Class Gold Definitive stamp cancelled with 150th Anniversary of the Victoria Cross postmark on 12 October 2004.

Cover has been personally handsigned by Flight Lieutenant A.R.F. Thompson DFC JP who was a Battle of Britain pilot with 249 Squadron October 1940-August 1941 and who won his DFC in March 1943. 

Official special numbered and certified on reverse.
