DESCRIPTION

One of a print run of 530 copies.

With eight vibrant chromolithograph plates by Harry Pane and one coloured tartan plate indicating the Fusiliers' tartan.

The illustrator, Harry Payne, was an English military artist. He was a part-time volunteer soldier himself, serving with the Queen's Own West Kent Yeomanry.

Collated, complete.

The author of this work, Lieut-Col Percy Groves of the 27th Inniskillings, wrote many military works including 'A Soldier Born', 'From Cadet to Captain' and 'With the Green Jackets'.

Groves' work delves into the history of the 21st Royal Scots Fusiliers, formerly the 21st Royal North British Fusiliers. It includes a list of Colonels of the Royal Scots Fusiliers from 1678 to 1894.


CONDITION

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart some minor shelfwear to the extremities. Light damp staining to the boards. Internally, generally firmly bound though strained in places. Pages are bright and clean.
