DESCRIPTION

Essays by: Marius Goring, Melvyn Bragg, Winston Graham, Elizabeth Jenkins, John Press, Christopher Ricks, Steven Runciman, Robert Shackleton, Robert Spaight, and J C Trewin. All contributions were given as commemorative lectures in the period 1974-76.

Founded in 1840 by George IV, the Royal Society of Literature is dedicated towards rewarding literary merit and exciting talent. The society comprises of up to 500 fellows that include the very best writers. Past fellows include Samuel Taylor Coleridge, J R R Tolkien, and W B Yeats.


CONDITION

In a cloth binding with original dustwrapper. Externally, in excellent condition. Pencil annotations to front pastedown. Personal bookplate to front free-endpaper. Dustwrapper in smart with some sunning and chipping to the spine. Tidemarks on the interior of the dustwrapper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.

often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy

Good - Meaning not very good. Some more serious faults as will

be described in the condition report under 'condition'

Good Only - Meaning one or more faults that could really do with repair

Fair - As with good only above but with other faults

leaving a compromised copy even after repair

Poor - Really bad and possibly seriously incomplete.
