The smart latch is a new, revolutionary mortice latch that combines style, practicality and speedy fitting. Available in both passive latch and bathroom deadbolt variations. This latch is incredibly easy to fit, with no need to chisel out the door. Simply drill a 26/27 mm hole and fit. It is suitable for use with any type of door furniture such as handle on rose, handle on back plate or door knob. It is supplied with fixings and both a traditional style square striker plate and dust box, or a fast fit cylindrical striker plate and dust box.
Fitting Instuctions
You Will Need: 25 mm flat drill bit, 32 mm flat drill bit, power drill, and a pencil.
Step 1: Find the height that you would like your door handle, using your pencil mark a line on the edge of the door and a line across the face of the door at the same level. Mark a cross on the end of the door at the centre point, and a cross on the face of the door at 45 mm from the edge (the backset).
Step 2: Using the flat bit, drill a hole at each cross. Drilling to approx 56 mm deep (64 mm deep for the bathroom bolt) at the end of the door, and all the way through to the other side on the face of the door.
Step 3: Measure the correct height against the frame, and use the 32 mm flat bit to drill a hole for the cylindrical dust box and striker plate. Screw the metal dustbox into place using the two side screw holes and then screw the round striker plate onto the dust box.
Step 4: Push the smart latch into the hole in the door, there is a lip at the edge to prevent you pushing in too far. Then slide your spindle through the hole and fit your door handle.
