Vintage Commemorative Judaica Folk Art Hand Carved Wood Piano Stool with Ball & Claw Feet
In 1999, the son of a man named Mel Spiro who died in 1997, re-purposed this stool for his sister and decided to embellish almost every surface with carved words and religious patterns. The top surface has a large circular central dedication, "In Loving Memory, Mel Spiro, May 26, 1918 - Oct 22, 1997" with Hebrew lettering and 4 Star-of-David's all around the edge. The legs each have a carved Star-of-David just above the feet as pictured. The interesting additional inscriptions are on the rim as well as underneath the seat. On the rim it says, " If you give my Dad a metal coat hanger, he can fix anything", Darlene Spiro, (Dedicated)" My sister Darlene with love, Damon R. Spiro 1999." There are four other inscriptions in Hebrrew and English under the seat.
This is an old wooden piano stool with four claw & (glass) ball feet intact and in good condition. The top rotates easily but it does not raise or lower positions. As pictured, the central support post underneath is almost as long as the feet. Overall condition of this wonderful stool is very good with lots of surface wear from use over the years. Please check the supersized photos closely for details.
Measurements are about 15" diameter top x 18-1/2" tall and it weighs about 15 pounds 4 ounces. This hand carved stool is a fabulous decorative & religious item as well as a great addition to a Judaica collection.
