Vintage Camel Hand Woven Small Rug / Wall Hanging Textile Art -- fringed
-very versatile: use as a wall hanging, display it on a table or turn it into a pillow or use it to cover a small footstool
All of the art work and collectibles being sold by Adams-Byrd Fine Art & Antiques have been collected and selected one at a time by the proprietor, an art historian with many years of training and experience in university art history departments, museums, galleries, and historic sites both in the U.S. and abroad. The business has been based in the Washington, D.C. area for many years. The art and collectibles that we are offering to eBay buyers are special and unique pieces that have been carefully “curated” by us.
This vintage small handwoven wool fringed rug is the perfect collectible for a camel collector. Display this textile art on a piece of furniture. On a table, sideboard or dresser, it can also serve double duty as a protective mat. As wall art you can hang it as is ..... or have it framed for a more dramatic presentation. We think it would also be great to repurpose it on the front of a pillow --- from a small pillow to a larger one using a wide fabric border around the small rug panel. It could be repurposed to be the "upholstered" top of a small footstool or bench. You could also just use it as a seat "cushion" on the square seat of a chair, stool or bench.
The background color is a grayish tan / brown. The camel is a light beige or off white / cream. The primary color of the camel's blanket (or load) is a brown / rust and its border is gray. Black is used for the outlining throughout the rug. The camel is in profile walking to the left. It is framed by a border that includes all the colors on the camel (with the exception of gray).. This very small carpet or rug is fringed at the top and bottom.
It is about 12 1/8" wide. it is about 11" high --- and about 13 3/8" including the fringe.
It is in very good vintage condition.
You can display it showing either side. Over the years, in our own collection of handwoven carpets and rugs of all sizes, we often like displaying them to show the reverse side of the weaving / design.
This would also be a cute addition to a child's play area or playhouse as a small original "Oriental" rug / carpet ...... of even as an area rug in a large dollhouse. Perhaps your small dog or cat needs its own original collectible rug!
