*** If you are buying multiple patterns, please put them all in your basket and pay for them all together to get combined postage***

Please note: This is a quality, cleaned and restored copy of the pattern for you to knit the item/s yourself. It is Not for the original pattern or the finished article/s.

Knitting patterns/instructions to make a classic 1930s/1940s/WWII sweater, with an Egyptian design.  In the 1930s there was a fascination with all things Egyptian.  People went on 'grand tours', decorated their houses in Egyptian/Art Deco styles following he discovery of Tutankhamen's tomb by Howard Carter in 1922.

The pattern is charted.

  • Sizes: 36-38 inch bust, when knitted in 3ply yarn.  You could use modern 4ply yarn as it is similar in weight to 3ply from the period the pattern was printed.  However you would need to knit a tension square and possibly adjust needle sizes to get the finished size you want.
  • Material requirements:  Amounts are for guidance only and will vary depending on size knitted and make of yarn used.
    • Approx 6 ounces (170 grams) in yellow.  1 ounces ( 28 grams) each in tan and scarlet red. 1/2 ounce (14 grams) if royal blue and approx 1/4 ounce (7 grams) each in grey, green, white and black.  Small amount of black.
    • Pair each of: No. 12 (2.75 mm) & No. 11 (3.00 mm) knitting needles.
    • 5 small buttons, and a crochet hook to help finish.

Due to the age of the pattern, the original yarn suggested may not be available.  It is recommended to crochet/knit a tension square with your chosen yarn, before starting, to ensure the finished garment or item is the size you require.
