• Our USB Converter, translates the RS-485 signal from our kWh meters to a signal that can be understood by your computer and our EKM Dash software. This is an inexpensive device that will work well if you want to read your meters locally on-site. You can daisy-chain connect up to 256 meters, on up to 4000 feet of twisted pair wire, to this converter.
• This converter uses a chip that is manufactured by FTDI, which is much more robust, reliable, and easier to use than competing chips.
• Just install the drivers, plug the USB converter into an available USB port, and begin communicating with your EKM Meters or RS-485 devices.
• Blue and Red LEDs indicate data sent and data received.

RS-485 is a very powerful industrial standard of communication which allows up to 256 EKM submeters to be connected on up to 4000 feet of wire to one communication converter. We have USB to RS-485, Serial (RS-232) to RS-485, and our EKM Push3 to read your meters over the internet. You must use one of these converters to read our meters with your computer or over the internet. We have these converters available on eBay or on our website. We We offer our EKM Dash software for free, which allows you to read an unlimited number of meters within your building or over the internet. Dash logs your meter reads to a spreadsheet and generate and email monthly bills to your tenants or users. Our software is compatible with PC, Mac OSX, and Linux.
