German Experimental Prototype aircraft of WW2 RAF cover
with BFPS First Flight of the World's First Jet Aircraft postmark

JS(CC)69 RAF cover depicting some of the German experimental prototypes of WW2. Artwork features the Focke-Wulfe Triebflugel , Junkers 287 V1, Messerschmitt P1111, Lippisch DM-1 glider and the delta wing Gartha Go229 V3 also referred to as the Horten Ho IX. These designs influenced modern aircraft design such as the Bell X-1, Delta wing and Stealth fighters. The cover bears 1st class definitive stamp cancelled with BFPS 2737 postmark for the 64th Anniversary of the First Flight of the World's First Jet Aircraft 27 August 2003. The cover has been flown in a Tornado of the German Air Force during The Royal International Air Tattoo 2000. During the Air Display the aircraft flew in the 'Missing Man' formation in memory of members of the Luftwaffe who lost heir lives during WWII
