MORTAR IN white marble WITH PESTLE - Dimensions 10x10cm

Functional and refined mortar made with classic Italian white marble with typical gray veins. Durable and elegant material that gives an original and modern look to a tool whose origins are very ancient. Preciousness of the material and fluidity of the form come together in a unique and elegant object.

The name mortar it originates from the vulgar Latin mortarjius, derived in turn from the most ancient mortare (making parts). The need to crush and pulverize some materials by percussion dates back to remote times and was initially practiced mainly using natural cavities and, then, perhaps even before milling with the millstone, almost always with stone mortars. The oldest mortars are in hard stone (used, for example, by Etruscans and Greeks), marble or alabaster. Even the Bible testifies to its ancient use: "The manna was pounded in a mortar to make cakes".

The marble it is formed through a metamorphic process from sedimentary rocks. Its multiple colors and textures derive from the presence of different minerals which, when mixed together, create unique and unrepeatable shades and veins. For millennia, marble has held a place of honor in the architecture and decoration of every era and style. Its durability makes it adaptable to both monumental works and detailed and precious miniatures, giving elegance and refinement to objects.
