This is a quality, cleaned and restored copy of the pattern for you to knit the item/s yourself. It is Not for the original pattern or the finished article/s. 


Description: knitting pattern/instructions to make WW2 1940s beret/halo hat and handbag. 

Measurements: 

  • Beret/hat approx 11" in diameter, inner head band approx 22".  
  • The bag is 9" deep x 9" wide. When made in 3 ply yarn.  You can use modern 4ply yarn which is similar in weight to the 3 ply of the time, but please knit a tension square before starting to ensure the finished items are the size you want.
Materials: 
  • 3 ounces (approx 85 grams) for the beret. 4 ounces (approx 114 grams) for the bag.  
  • Pair each  No. 10 (3.25 mm) , No. 12 (2.75 mm) knitting needles.  No. 12 (2.5 mm) crochet hook.  
  • 2 metal or plastic rings for the handbag.  Fabric to stiffen beret and bag. 

Due to the age of the pattern, the original yarn suggested may not be available.  It is recommended to crochet/knit a tension square with your chosen yarn, before starting, to ensure the finished garment or item is the size you require.
