A vibrant original pencil and watercolour design on thick watercolour paper, the costume design for a “Drag Cockney (Steve)” character by acclaimed costume designer Nicholas Rocker. Probably designed for theatre or a TV production. Fabric swatches attached to the corner of the artwork and annotated in pencil, boldly signed by Nicholas Rocker and dated 1976 lower right. A very decorative piece in Nicks distinctive style that would display very well.

The picture measurements overall 35.5cm x 25.5cm.

Nicholas Rocker is an award winning and accomplished costume designer who worked on many BBC productions and with music and film greats, including Shirley Bassey and Twiggy amongst many others. He is well known for his work in cult TV show ‘Blake 7’ and film ‘Bon Voyage’ to name a few.

Some light creasing and rubs to the corners of the paper however these do not affect the body of the artwork. There are some subtle marks and transfer of graphite from text across the paper which shows the working nature of the image nicely without distracting from the image. Please be guided by photographs for condition.

The newspaper cutting displayed in the last photograph is not included for sale in this listing and is for illustrative/informative purposes only.
