Description:

FULL TITLE: The Road from Amiens to Saint-Omer

Page 551

From Amiens via Doullens, Frevent, Saint-Pol-sur-Ternoise & Therouanne to Saint-Omer.

The strip map shows the main road and crossroads leading to various towns & villages along the way. The engraving details the surrounding topography including churches, rivers, bridges, pastures, woods, forests and hills.

The distances between towns & cities are shown in 'lieue'. 1 lieue varied between 3.898km and 4.678km. My feeling is that the 'lieue de postes' was used, which happens to be the average of the above 2 distances at 4.288km.
