This is a Chris Zhou blade. This one is supposed to be made around 2006-2009 in terms of age. It was a commissioned piece from Mr. Zhou directly. I bought the blade from the person who had it commissioned. The blade is special not only in that it was a custom order from Mr. Zhou but it is a folded and laminated blade.  The welds are very tight and it has some very interesting patterns in the steel.  I am not sure what kind of lamination technique was used to make the sword but it looks laminated.

The blade was also recently polished by Josiah Boomershine. The blade came out very nicely and you can observe many of the effects in the steel due to his skill.

The fittings are made by Jefferey Robinson in a bear theme.  The tsuba, fuchi, kashira, and menuki are done in cast bronze.

The ito looks like Lohman Tsunami ito. Large nodule white samegawa is done in a full wrap on the tsuka.  The saya is brown satin finish with bear paw prints stenciled in. The blade was mounted by a professional.

Notable condition info

The ito is tight.
The ito has lots of sights of handling.
The tsuba has some wiggle
The saya has some dings and scuffs. Some bigger dings along the ha side of the scabbard.  I colored them to look like bear tracks but they are large and rather deep.
The koiguchi is not very tight but it holds well enough to use.
The blade has been used in the past for cutting but the polish is fresh and it has not been used for cutting after the fresh polish.
The polish has some scuffs from saya rub

The blade moves and cuts well.  It cut with it before I sent it to Josiah for polishing.  It moves through tatami well and is pretty comfortable. There is a video on youtube about it.
