The new Carbontex drag washers from Smooth Drag are a new generation of carbon fibre drag washers. The high quality carbon fibre drag material is the perfect combination of unrivalled stopping power, silky smoothness and outstanding consistency, with a high heat tolerance.  Our washer sets are all made from genuine high quality Carbontex material from Smooth Drag in the USA (we are an approved Smooth Drag dealer) and the washers are all machine cut to precise specifications as opposed to many of the cheaper, roughly cut washers made out of poor quality carbon matrix available on Ebay.  Please note that the Carbontex brand name is owned by Smooth Drag USA.

Carbontex washers may be used dry or with a very light coating of your favourite PTFE based reel grease.  Smooth Drag recommend Cal's Drag Grease which we also sell.  For those users looking for a "quick" drag Carbontex is a good replacement for standard washers.  Although a Carbontex fitted drag will need a little more tightening to lock up, it allows for a much smoother application of the drag in comparison to solid washer materials such as PTFE or solid carbon sheet.  We're confident that once you've tried a set of Carbontex washers you won't want to fit anything else.

We have a choice of kits to fit the ABU 7000 7500 models, both Swedish and Chinese made and also offer Xtreme and replacement stainless steel drag washers for the Swedish made models. If you are in doubt as to the correct kit please consult your schematic for the parts numbers or contact us prior to making a purchase.

The following kits are available:

1. ABU 7000C - 7800
This kit includes 4 washers which are a direct replacement for the standard ABU parts fitted to your reel and fit Swedish Made ABU Ambassadeurs 7000C, C3, CT, B, CL, BG, 7500C, CT, C3, 7200, 7700 and 7800. Not suitable for the later 'i' models.

2. ABU 7000i (6 Washer Type)
This kit includes 6 washers which are a direct replacement for the standard ABU parts fitted to your reel and fit ABU Ambassadeurs 7000i reels with 6 fibre washers in the drag stack, carrying cage numbers 15-00, 15-03, 16-02 and 16-00.

3. ABU 7000i (4 Washer Type)
This kit includes 4 washers which are a direct replacement for the standard ABU parts fitted to your reel and fit ABU Ambassadeurs 7000i CS Pro Rocket, 7000iC3, 7000iC3 CT Mag HS, 7000i HSN, 7000iLC and 7000i Synchro.

4. Xtreme ABU 7000C - 7800
Xtreme Smoothies offer the finest performing drag washer friction material available today and provide extreme smoothness and durability, with the greatest range of drag progression. They use a specially formulated material designed for the best performance of sliding surfaces, with self lubricating qualities and can be used dry or with a very light coating of your favourite reel grease. This kit includes 5 washers which are a direct replacement for the standard ABU washers fitted as standard to your reel and fit Swedish Made ABU Ambassadeurs 7000C, C3, CT, B, CL, BG, 7500C, CT, C3, 7200, 7700 and 7800. Not suitable for the later 'i' models.

5. ABU 7000 Metal Drag Washers
Smooth Drag produce their top quality metal washers as a compliment to their fibre drag washer kits. Their metal washers are stamped from stainless steel, they are double disc ground FLAT, then lapped for a super smooth surface. This kit includes a full set of 3 stainless steel washers for your Swedish Made ABU 7000 or 7500 series Ambassadeur reel and are a direct replacement for the original ABU parts. Not suitable for the later 'i' models.

Please Note: You will need to be competent at stripping your reel as fitting this product requires the disassembly of the gearbox (or spool in the case of Fixed Spool models).
