Since their first publication in 1923, Cicely Mary Barker's Flower Fairy drawings have enchanted people around the world.
The beautiful botanically accurate drawings were based on real children from her sister, Dorothy's kindergarten,
and Cicely published her first book of twenty four paintings and illustrations in 1923, later publishing seven more volumes.
The Cowslip Fairy is a 'Flower Fairy of the Spring' (1923)

The fairies are tiny creatures who dwell in tree tops. marshes ,the forest floor, the wayside, and gardens.
When a seed sprouts, a Flower Fairy baby is born and the Fairy lives and sleeps with its chosen flower, plant or tree -
keeping it strong and healthy, and making sure it has plenty sunshine and water, whilst sweeping away the dead leaves -
polishing the flowers and stems.
