For your consideration is a VERY LARGE VASE BY TATSUZO SHIMAOKA (1911 - 2007), a former JAPANESE LIVING NATIONAL TREASURE. It is a light cream and brown color.  The Jogon Zogan Rope Impression design is what I refer to as 'Perpetual Diagonal' and is one of four frequently used patterns by Shimaoka.  The rope utilized is quite large and in good proportion to the size of the vase.   It is perfect condition and there are no chips or cracks. This is a very large piece at 12 3/4" (32.4 cm) Height x 6 1/4" (16 cm) Diameter. It weighs close to 7 pounds.  (I have included some additional photos of some of my other listings showing work by Shimaoka, F. Carlton Ball / Aaron bohrod collaboration, David Stewart, David Leach, David Cuzick and William Chappelow).   (C - 450)
