Also known as Jamaica pepper, Myrtle pepper, Pimento, Turkish Yenhibahar and Newspice, Allspice is a is the dried unripe fruit (berries) of Pimenta dioica originating in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

It's primary use, of course, is as a spice. The English called it Allspice in 1621 for they thought it combined the flavour of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.

It is used in many bitters preparations.
