Wonderful original magazine article titled "A SKETCH OF WASHINGTON CITY."

It was rescued from a December 1852 issue of HARPER'S NEW MONTHLY MAGAZINE, No. XXXI, Vol. VI.

Buyer will receive 8 double-sided pages carefully trimmed from the damaged original magazine.

The article appears on pages 1-2; 3-4; 5-6; 7-8; 9-10; 11-12; 13-14; & 15. Page 16 has part of an unrelated article.

The pages include numerous drawings. I've listed the captions below:

Map of Washington City; The Capitol; Statue of Washington; Clock in the House of Representatives; Entrance to the Public Grounds;

President's Home; Equestrian Statue of Jackson; Treasury; General Post Office; Patent Office; Congressional Burying Ground;

Smithson; Smithsonian Institute; Washington Monument; Bust of Washington; Washington's Tomb; Mount Vernon.

The drawings are small, but very detailed and excellent.

These original pages have some stains, minor wrinkles or bends, and the paper has yellowed with the age (over 165 years old!!).

The page edges had to be trimmed to eliminate damage. Each page now measures approximately 5 1/2" x 8 3/8".

Almost a one-of-a-kind find. There can't be many of these pages around.

You will receive the originals - I have not copied or made any duplicates of these pages. Photos were taken with a cell phone,
and then transferred to my computer. As soon as uploaded to this listing, they were deleted from my computer.

I'll place the pages inside a trimmed, acid-free plastic sleeve. I will add a piece of white foam board for protection, and mail by USPS First Class in a bubble envelope.

I'll mail the same day, or next day after PayPal payment is received. No additional charges to buyer for mailing costs, above the final bid price.
