DESCRIPTION

With a portrait frontispiece of Pope Innocent XI, and 21 engraved plates, including 16 folding, 2 small folding plates and three single page plates. 

Rebound, in a recent half vellum binding with paper covered boards. 

Collated, lacking only the final blank. 

In the original Italian. 

A2 is damaged, with a facsimile of the leaf bound in prior to the original leaf. 

This work is a study of several bridges across the Nera and Tiber rivers. Tinassi also discusses the navigation from Perugia to Rome. 

A beautifully illustrated first edition copy of this study of Italian architecture.


CONDITION

In a modern half vellum binding, with paper covered boards. Externally, generally smart with a few light marks to boards. Minor rubbing to the spine. Tape repair to frontispiece at the gutter. Contemporary inscription to the bottom margin of the frontispiece. Imperceptible repair to the title page. Leaf A2 damaged and repaired with loss to five lines at top of page, in addition to three lines at the centre which is repaired with clear tape. Facsimile of a complete leaf A2 inserted before the original. Worm track to lower margins from B1-C2 and including the inner margin only of two plates, not affecting image, closed tear to inner margin of folding plate at page 16 (neatly repaired to verso), three small pale brown spots on one plate and one text page, one page repaired with slight loss of text. Repair to the edges of A2 and A4. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Occasional light spots to pages.
