Industrial Quality Injection Molding to specification using P20 Steel Mold, in 100% long-wearing silicone rubber.*

Ordinary carbon-based rubber leaches impurities over time. SILICONE has no impurities. This is important to consider when exposing your eye to ordinary rubber frequently. This is why we instructed our manufacturer to use only 100% silicone rubber.

*Silicone is one of the elastomers, or one of the rubbers. The backbone of silicone contains silicon and oxygen, while the backbones of most of the other rubbers contain carbon-carbon bonds. Silicone is more resistant to heat, chemical attacks, fungus attacks, UV and Ozone attacks than ordinary rubber, which is the reason most food service manufacturers now use silicone in their products. Spatulas, for example, simply hold their shape much longer.

Silicone rubber lasts approximately four times longer while its price to produce is around twice the price of ordinary rubber. Therefore, using silicone makes sense in the long-term.
