Today we are delighted to offer for sale a wonderful set of 12 demitasse spoons and sugar tongs by Elkington.
The renowned Elkington & Co of Birminghan was founded by George Richards Elkington and his brother, Henry Elkington, in the 1830s. The firm operated independently as Elkington & Co. from 1861 until 1963. Over the course of its history it became very successful and received various royal warrants of appointments, and also an Imperial and Royal Warrant of Appointment from the emperor of Austria.
This early 1900's Edwardian-style set is finely crafted and detailed of hallmarked sterling silver. The set is composed of 12 delicate and streamlined demitasse spoons and sugar tongs. The pieces come with a bespoke and original Elkington fitted case, which features regal maroon and gilt tooled leather covering with green velvet interior.
Set presents well and is in good antique condition, with minor wear/scuffing, tarnish and patina commensurate with age. Case has wear/scuffing and losses to leather covering. Please review all photos before purchasing. These lovely set will grace any table setting for the holidays and beyond... Fresh to the market from a Rhode Island estate!
