Noro Magazine Issue #15 2019 Fall's Top Choices (Q3 - 2019)

Issue #15 has the iconic Cardigan with Bachi and Kanzashi Striped.

It's challenging to replicate because Noro no longer offers a boucle to replace Kanzashi.
The Bachi is very close to Ito. You could alternate Ito and Silk Garden with it's mohair texture,
Mrs. Knits cannot guarantee a replica. If a new boucle comes in, we will update that information here.

The cover magazine features a wool called Bachi and Kanzashi (Boucle), which are discontinued.
The Bachi is a bulky wool that is closest to Tsuido in weight and Ito for texture (run doubled)
Kanzashi is difficult to replace because they did not replace it.

UNWRAPPING THE WORLD OF NATURE
Behind Noro's recent packaging changes (see the illustration), which has Kanji for "Colors of Nature," his motto.

Noro Magazine has been published by Vogue Knitting in print since about 2013. Mrs. Knits has been knitting with Noro since the 1990s. A major appeal is that Noro has a stable collection of consistent and innovative yarns. In other words, they do not "discontinue" yarns abruptly, leaving the knitter one skein shy of a project or without pattern support for vintage yarns. If you fall in love with a yarn or pattern and are unsure how to approach it, Mrs. Knits is an expert yarn whisperer who can help. Happy Knitting!

Why charge more than the cover price?
Unlike yarn, magazines are much heavier, and so more expensive to ship. The increased price still does not fully cover our shipping cost.  However, with 2 magazines, you can expect a shipping upgrade to Priority Mail, and there are discounts for 3 or more magazines, present and past.

Background:

Master Eisaku Noro - San (loosely translated as papa a term of endearment) passed away in 2022.
His legacy dates back to the 1970-80's when he and Sion Ealof (an industry leader and Noro Yarn distributor)
pioneered the wonder and artistry of "Colors of Nature" in Japan. Noro was a humble man from a Japanese Fisherman's Village. His close friend, Sion Ealof, now CEO of Knitting Fever who distributes Noro in the US, came up in the industry having owned a knit shop in the 1970's.
.
Mrs. Knits also spent time in her early knitting career in Europe and Japan (see her bio online) and is a long time aficionado of Noro. She built her yarn shop as a Noro Concept Boutique and is a respected expert in Noro Yarns. She also dabbles a bit in European Yarn but Noro is her passion and artistic muse.
