RARE Original framed and matted exhibition poster from "The Etruscans: Legacy Of A Lost Civilization. From The Vatican Museums. Detail of an 1898 Facsimile from Tomba del Barone, Tarquinia, c. 510 B.C., Courtesy of Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, Photographer, Ole Haupt." I've never seen another one of these on the market! This exhibition featured 178 pieces including beautiful jewelry, crafted stoneware, armor and ancient murals and statues from the ancient Etruscan civilization. It started at the Gregorian Museum of the Vatican Museums in Italy in the 1990's and made four stops in the U.S: Morristown, NJ, Dallas, TX, Memphis, TN and Provo, UT. This tour was the only time the artifacts have been out of the Vatican museum since Pope Gregory XVI built the museum to house them in 1836. This was the very first exhibition ever on display at the Brigham Young University Museum of Art, which today is one of the best attended university-campus art museums in the U.S. The frame measures approximately 36" long x 21.5" tall, while the visible portion of the print measures 29.5" long x 14.5" tall. In excellent condition, one scratch on the poster (pictured) and no damage to the frame. Beautifully framed in stained wood with a green matte. Great piece for history buffs, ancient civilization enthusiasts, intellectuals, professors, etc. Wire hanger in the back. Ships with USPS Priority Mail.
