Tepin is a small, round chili pepper with a diameter of 0.6-0.8 cm.
This variety of chillies are really spicy, according to some even spicier than Habanero.
Tepin is also called "the mother of all chillies". In Mexico they also grow in the wild.
Sometimes they germinate slowly. When plants winter indoors, the yield is often better than the previous year. Dried chillies can be chopped and used to season many dishes such as soups and delicious stews.
When still unripe, chilli is very good for making sauces.
