Large 9 inch wooden musical spoon. This spoon was handmade, with excellent craftsmanship from two pieces of rosewood.  Comes with black, drawstring pouch for storage and travel. **note** wood grain patterns will vary.

Many ancient cultures played musical spoons. From what researchers have discovered, years ago our ancestors used actual bones.  They would use a pair or a set of three bones from an animal, usually a sheep or a cow.  They would then place them between their fingers and strike them rhythmically against each other to make music.

American spoons are associated mostly with jug bands, and folk music.  They can be fashioned out of different types of wood or be made of actual stainless-steel spoons.  Something as simple as this instrument can bring a variety of sounds.  Before you know it, you will realize you are smiling as you're playing.  Spoons are popular with all ages, but children especially take to this very quickly.

These are small, compact, and easy to travel with. The cost is very affordable, and they can be a great gift for any music lover!
