This is the highest quality made owl house you can buy online.  Made from locally sourced White Cedar( Thuja occidentalis), naturally rot and insect resistant.  We order 1" rough sawn boards and plane them down to 3/4"-13/16" smooth boards.  Strongest, thickest boards you will find for owl houses.  Others are typically flimsy 1/2" or 5/8", which are too light for a bigger bird such as an owl.

The inside front wall is kerfed so the owls have an easy time leaving the box.  Larger front entrance hole is 4"X5", with the top and bottom edges rounded over their safety.  The bottom floor has 4 holes drilled for drainage.  Front panel comes off with 4 screws.  The back is screwed on with 6 screws plus 1-3/8" brads, top and upper front are 1 3/8" brad nailed and bottom has 4 screws and brad nailed.  There is no reason to seal the wood, as it is weather resistant.  HOWEVER, it is going to turn to a gray appearance after weathering.

Once you see and feel the quality of my work, you will know you have he best made house in the USA:

  • 3/4"+ White Cedar boards
  • Triple coated screws for longevity
  • Approximately 7 pounds
  • Approximate outside dimensions 22"x7.5"x6"
  • Approximate inside dimensions 20"x6"x4"

SO, as you may or may not know realize, wood is a natural asset, and as such, each piece varies.  You may receive pieces that have splinters, knots, cracks and be be varied in color.  And as wood is exposed to the elements, you will notice further cracking and graying, and that is totally natural.  I try to work with best quality cedar I can have professionally sawn, specifically for me.

Meet the artist behind this creation:

My name is Andy, I have been an outdoor lover since a little child, 50+ years.  I grew up on a small family farm in Northeastern Wisconsin, in fact I am a 6th generation owner since 1872.  After cows, I decided to plant my 80 acre farm into trees starting in 2004, reverting it back to pre-pioneer days.  I have planted in excess of 100,000 trees, have created 3 ponds and miles upon miles of trails throughout my slice of heaven.  We have on average 15 fawns born each May, plenty of turkeys and pheasants, bear, coyote, bobcat, red fox, eagles, hawks and owls that now regularly inhabit our forest.  We have over 100 houses up for the birds, all species including bluebirds, cardinals, blue jays, robins, morning doves, you name it, we have them. Unfortunately this past June 2020, I fell off my roof, and nearly died.  17 broken bones, 2 busted up legs and ribs, 4 months of living on the sofa, not being able to stand up for 160+ days, I am grateful I can even hobble around.  After much soul-searching, my career as a factory worker has come to an end.  And my second career of loving the great outdoors is going to happen, even if it means I hobble around with a cane, I am just happy I can get out to my beloved trees.  This is my passion!!!!
