LICUALA GRANDIS - RUFFLED FAN PALM - VANUATU PALM - PALAS PALM
Already well known for its large, round, straight, undivided and densely pleated leaves. The leaves are fan-shaped, almost round, spread flat to the sides, up to 1 m in diameter, petiole up to 1 m long, covered with sharp spines. Licuala Grandis is a wonderful indoor and balcony plant to be grown outside in the summer. The seeds germinate easily and the growth rate is moderate.
Originally it comes from the forests of San Cristobal and Santa Cruz (part of the Solomon Islands) and most of Vanuatu in the Southwest Pacific, and not, as older publications mistakenly say, on the Island of New Britain.
