Full size United Nations Special Service medal with UNSCOM Clasp (Weapons Inspector)
The United Nations medal for special service is awarded to military and civilian police personnel serving the united nations in capacities other than established peace-keeping missions or those permanently assigned to the United Nations headquarters, the medal may be awarded to eligible personnel serving for a minimum of 90 days consecutive days under the control of the United Nations in operations or offices for which no other United Nations award is authorised.
UNSCOM Clasp
By its resolution 687 of 3 April 1991, the United Nations Security Council established the terms and conditions for the formal cease-fire between Iraq and the coalition of Member States co-operating with Kuwait. Section C of this resolution called for the elimination, under international supervision, of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles with a range greater than 150 kilometres (km), together with related items and production facilities. It also called for measures to ensure that the acquisition and production of prohibited items were not resumed. The United Nations Special Commission (UNSCOM) was set up to implement the non-nuclear provisions of the resolution and to assist the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in the nuclear areas. The precise terms are laid out in paragraphs 7 to 13 of the resolution.

Medal is available with three options:
No Mounting - Medal will be provided with 6 inches of ribbon
Swing Mounted - Medal will be sewn to a brooch bar by the ribbon. Medal will swing freely from the bar.
Court Mounted - Medal will be stitched down to a backing board which is fully covered with the ribbon of the medal. This style of mounting holds the medal securely in place which stops the medal becoming damaged.
