About this work:

A fantastic etching by the renowned contemporary female artist Gillian Pederson-Krag (American, b. 1938).

This work, produced in 1983, is titled Landscape and is limited to 50 copies. It depicts a vast landscape of Classical ruins in fine detail and with a green tone.

The work is signed and dated in pencil in the lower right corner. It is matted and framed behind glass.

Another example of this work, from the same edition, can be found in the collection of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.

About the artist:

For more than 50 years, Pederson-Krag has produced masterfully arranged still lifes, landscapes, and figure groups in paintings and etchings. Distilling lessons from artists as diverse as Giorgio Morandi, Georges Seurat, Édouard Vuillard, Chinese brush painting, and Byzantine icons, her cohesive imagery, space, and light harmonize to express empathy for both humanity and nature. Her closely observed forms, restrained palette, and softly nuanced strokes convey transcendent beauty and tranquility.
