The pendent shell is base metal and plating to protect against the chemical effects of perfumes. A ceramic red disk is provided for times an application would not be appropriate.

The Om is used in meditation and connection with the spiritual in many religions.  It has use in some physical concentrations as well. The symbol represents the first word spoken by god in Hindu and Buddhist faiths.  Even in the Christian "I am", the initial beginning of the universe, has a similar tonality.   Our own exploration of the universe has given a spine tingling doppler "Om". The Planck satellite mission mapped light temperature differences on the oldest surface known — the background sky left billions of years ago when our universe first became transparent to light. Those differences helped to recreate the sound of the Big Bang.  In 2013, Using  data from the ESA’s Planck Mission, physicist John Cramer from the University of Washington, developed a “high-fidelity” rendition of the Sound of the Big Bang. It is an "Om" worth listening to.
