Subject Date: 1924 - 1932

Creator: Barringer, Wallis and Manners

Publisher: Huntley & Palmers

This is a beautifully crafted tin. It was offered as a free gift by Huntley & Palmers in March 1924. To obtain the tin, it was necessary to purchase not less than one pound each of any six of the Biscuit varieties specified by Huntley & Palmers. The offer was open until 31 May 1924. It is interesting to note that MJ Franklin on his book on British Biscuit tins states that this tin was copied from a Sandalwood casket presented to Lord and Lady Palmer on tour, circa 1926. While the date is incorrect, the information about the source of the idea for the tin may well be accurate. Issued for export in 1927 and for sale in the UK in 1928.
