DIVINE TULSI – Our Tulsi Tea Blend is a blend
of three kinds of Holy Basil: green Rama Tulsi, dark colored Krishna Tulsi, and
bushy Vana Tulsi (sometimes called ‘tree basil’). All are certified organically
grown. Rama and Krishna are both varieties of Ocimum sanctum, while Vana
Tulsi is Ocimum gratissimum.
These varieties of Tulsi are considered
sacred in India and also healing, according to Ayurveda. Thought to improve
digestion, tonify the heart, and break up cholesterol; Tulsi is anti-microbial,
anti-viral, and pacifies Vata and Kapha doshas.
A member of the mint family, Tulsi has a
pleasant, cleansing, fresh herbal taste with hints of mint and citrus. It is non-stimulating
and is said to calm the mind and benefit meditation and other spiritual activities.
The flavor is neutral enough that it can easily blend with other botanicals – lemon, ginger, hibiscus, sage, etc. – according to taste. Use about 1 heaped teaspoon per cup very hot water, steep 3-5 minutes, and strain. Tulsi Tea Blend is delicious hot or iced.
