Vallisneria Gigantea Rubra
size 18-40cm

Vallisneria Gigantea Rubra is an excellent background plant. It can develop a reddish hue with higher lighting. It grows quite quickly, but after adapting to new conditions. Acclimatization may take about a month. You may not notice any growth during this time. This plant sometimes sheds its leaves when moved to a new aquarium. Those leaves should be cut with sharp scissors at the base of the plant. An early heavy amount of liquid fertilizers and stronger lighting will get Vallisneria to roll quicker with less melting. After this period, the plant will start to grow and send out shoots under the ground, which will develop into seedlings. After some time, the daughter plants will develop their own root system. Vallisneria is a heavy root feeder. Needs to be planted quite deep.

What cause and understanding of „Vallisneria melt”:
Vallisneria melting is a common issue that many aquarists face. It could happen as Vallisneria is very sensitive to sudden changes and new conditions. Changes in water temperature, pH level, hardness, lack of nutrients can stress plant and lead to melting. Incorrect planting depth can also cause of Vallisneria melting. Regularly monitor and maintain stable water temperature, pH levels, and hardness. Avoid sudden changes by gradually adjusting these parameters when necessary. Established plants can suffer from melting as well. In that case we advise to prune the leaves as they melt. This will help plant focus more on producing new leaves rather than struggling to keep the old ones. Do not worry if it will happen. Your plant will begin to grow back within a month or sooner depending on the condition.

The picture is only illustrative, and the real plant may vary in colour and size, especially in the winter, because the plants grow more slowly, although we try to provide the largest sometimes it is independent of us. The colour depends on the fertilizers in which they are served. Plants will take their natural look in the aquarium. You will receive plants looking similar like on the photo (without pot, cup).

The size of the plant shows how big it can grow in the aquarium. That gives information to the buyers where to position plant in the aquarium. Plants which you will receives come from greenhouses or laboratory(in vitro) and some of them might be smaller or bigger than the final sizes shown on the listing. Don't be surprised that sometimes plants might not have roots or roots will be minimal. After planting in the aquarium, the plant will grow new roots within a few days.
